Fifth Grade News
ELA:
Module 1 Inventors at Work (Essential Question: What kinds of circumstances push people to create new inventions?) We are reading various informational texts on inventors and challenges were faced in the process. As a result, we discussed author's purpose in this unit (to inform mostly) and applied it to our writing that is currently in draft mode.
Our essay is an Expository essay that includes a thesis statement in the introductions, 3 supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion on which the thesis is restated.
Math:
Module 2: This unit will consist of multiplying and dividing multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithms. You can help your child at home by having them practice their multiplication facts to ensure fluency.
